To Honor Donors by Advancing Sight for all Humankind

VisionGift is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving lives through eye donation, transplantation, and research.  Our mission is to Honor Donors by Advancing Sight for all Humankind, while providing hope and healing to individuals in need of corneal transplants. Our vision that Everyone has a Fundamental Right to See is supported through our education of the public and key partners about the importance of eye donation.  Since our founding in 1975, we have helped facilitate thousands of corneal transplants and advancements in ocular research, giving recipients of the gift of vision a renewed sense of hope for their future.  At VisionGift, we are committed to honoring the gift of donation and making a difference in the lives of those we serve.

What We Do

VisionGift is proud of the many different functions we perform on the path to sight restoration in our communities. Through collaboration with our donation partners around the state, we are able to recover and screen donated tissues in a timely manner to provide grafts for individuals throughout Oregon and southwest Washington. Once these needs have been met, we routinely send additional tissues across the nation and around the world.

We strive to honor and serve the brave individuals and their families who make the decision to donate. We remember those who have given the gift of sight through projects like our ‘Trees of Remembrance’ and ‘Threads of Life’ quilts. We also facilitate the anonymous correspondence between donor families and grateful recipients, a practice that does much to comfort the families of our donors.

Finally, we strive to continue our strong tradition of involvement in ocular research initiatives, both within our own Vision Research Laboratory and by providing tissues to outside research facilities. Through programs like these, we can continue to increase the safety and efficacy of the tissues we provide.
